ASTA – Association of Arts and Flavours of Tavira promotes and preserves the traditional crafts and local products of the municipality. As the organization behind the Casa do Artesão de Tavira, it brings together artisans and producers in a space where tradition, creativity and Algarve identity come together.
ASTA – Association of Arts and Flavours of Tavira is dedicated to promoting local artisans, producers and traditional knowledge, helping to preserve the skills and cultural heritage that form part of Tavira’s identity.
The association manages the Casa do Artesão de Tavira (House of the Artisan), a public space that serves as a showcase for local crafts and a meeting point between makers, residents and visitors. Here, visitors can discover unique handmade creations, learn about traditional techniques and meet the people who keep these crafts alive.
The crafts represented include palm weaving, weaving, fabric upcycling (trapology), woodwork, ceramics and cork crafts, among many other traditional arts. Visitors can also find local products such as honey and honey-based products, traditional liqueurs, regional sweets, olive oil biscuits and other specialties from the Algarve.
Throughout the year, ASTA organizes craft fairs, themed markets and cultural events, creating opportunities to showcase local talent and bring visitors closer to Tavira’s living heritage.
More than an association, ASTA is a guardian of traditions and a champion of local creativity, where every craft and every flavour tells a story rooted in the territory and its people.
